The exams are coming really soon and the prelims have kicked in! The stress is piling on and so are the books. You want to get distracted and de-stress for a while so you come online to this awesome blog, hoping for an update. Even Lester Chee's photo is good enough, though it just made you jump for the 10th time that you came to this website and then subsequently you just started laughing to yourself for being silly.

Just kidding. Remember that you are never alone! The Holy Spirit will always be there for you, as long as you seek Him first before all else.

Our most beloved soldier turns TWENTY today, and guess how he is spending it? If you have him on your FB, you would know that he is in the smoking chambers.

I thought it was a place where the guys take a puff or like a sauna, but no. It turns out that it's a place where NSmen like him, Boon and Yaw alike have to withstand tear gases.

If you don't know how it feels like (girls probably won't get a chance anyway), try sniffing in huge amounts of powdered pepper plus onions plus chili. I guess the effect would be similar, right guys?

Anyway, having known him since way back, I have seen how he has grown and matured. He really is a testimony for God and what makes us prouder is that he still manages to put the Lord as his top priority despite his tight schedule, and serve Him, and still be an awesome helper.

Thank you for impacting every single one of our lives. Your presence is ever so enormous (though not as big as Clarence's... Get it?) and we love you.

The God Factor

I was reading this article sent by my relative, and thought I should tweak it a little bit.

As human beings, we all experience problems, and go through troubled times. Difficulty in looking for suitable jobs, a tough job with a tougher boss, having a hard time learning in school. All of us have different methods of coping with issues, and some of us deal with it better than the others.

The reason for this is not that much the graveness of their issues. Rather, it is who they turn to for help.

The key ingredient to overcoming these obstacles is the God factor. Do the best that you can, and rely on God for everything else.

Isaiah 55:9 says:

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts."

In all that we do, we must keep in mind that God has the power to open hearts, change minds, and control everything.

Of course, relying on God is not always easy, because you can't see Him. We are built in a WYSIWYG world, that is, what you see is what you get. How can we rely on a non-substantial Being?

That is where faith comes to play. It means believing in the impossible, and trusting that He will be able to supply all your needs.

We need to learn to not only rely on Him for spiritual needs like happiness, peace of mind and purpose, but rather, our whole lives! He is in the heavenly realm, but He works in the real world.

He knows what is best for us. He has planned our whole lives for us. Trust in Him.

Do your part, and it will surely come to pass. Although not necessarily the way you want and think they will, but in God's time and way.

How many of us in N415 are above the age of 16? Ah I see many of you shaking your heads. I believe 16 is the best year for most of us. The year where something big happens.

Well, today someone turns sixteen, and I am very sure she is going to have the most awesome year ahead of her. Our sunny Claria!

Isn't this alligator of awesomeness just awesome? Ever since Claria joined our family, she has been nothing but joy. She has shown us that nothing is cheaper, yet worth more, than sincerity and smile. I don't know if she likes yellow, but whenever I think of her, I think of the bright, sunny, yellow sun.

Thank you for the sincere friendships that you have formed with everyone of us, and for bringing such joy into our lives.

I remember when I first got to know her, I was struck by her gentleness and poise. Almost a year on, and she has grown into a beautiful young woman. I admire her for her dedication towards guiding young children to grow healthy and cheerful, just like her. Ever so meticulous and sweet, she truly is a princess, especially in God's eyes.

I wish you had an awesome birthday, and to greater years ahead of you. May your dreams be fulfilled, and all your burdens be cast upon Him.

Having known him for a little less than a year, I am honored to be able to witness his growth over the months. He has matured and grown up to be a responsible and caring friend.

If you missed Sunday service, you would have missed the most sensational, the next big preacher of the century, BROTHER JOSEPH!

I took plenty of print screens, even though the video was badly pixelated. His excitement managed to radiate through the computer screen and infect me, and I even heard Pastor Kong going "yes!" and "amen!" plenty of times.

YOU DID AWESOMELY WELL BROTHER JOSEPH! N415 is so very proud of you, and very very proud to show off to the world that you are our cell group leader. <3<3<3

As I sat down in my room watching the service through the live streaming online, I found myself quietly clapping alone and singing alone to the praise and worship. I initially thought the church decided to invite a guest band and choir, but they turned out to be the SOT graduates! My, are they good!

After being at the graduation, don't you feel motivated to go attend the School of Theology too? I know I did!

I am sure all of you have received Jolene's text about her brother, right? Pray for him! I see prayers like balloons, and we are like the helium gas. The more we pray for the same thing, the bigger the balloon will be and the faster it will reach heaven. Get it? That is how I see it, at least.

Jing Long has a bad fever! A bird called me to tell me that he has a record high temperature of 39degC. I am sure he will be given a 7-day MC and made to stay home. I am also sure he will be fine in a few days with your prayers, right?

Drink lots of water and eat lots of watermelon brother!

Lester Chee has guard duty until tomorrow morning. Oh what an important responsibility he is holding for our nation at his Nee Soon camp. I beseech you guys to pray for his early release so that he would not be late for tomorrow's service!

Pout and show your cutest side to your whoever-is-in-charge Chee. It just might work.

Also, I am down with H1N1! I don't feel the difference, honestly. Anyway, pray for my speedy recovery!

Two of our cell group members are on their way to stardom! They are Geraldine and Annabelle, who have each become finalists in different competitions.

This almost-Korean girl recently joined a makeover for a magazine, initially planning only to get freebies (the spirit of Singaporean still lives!), but by God's grace, she got into the top 8! The magazine is called Kozine, a Korean Singapore-based lifestyle magazine.

There at the top right hand corner is our Korean star, and how cute IS SHE! Gee I am so excited.

Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?

Have you ever heard of the song "Have I Told You Lately" sung by Rod Stewart? Well, if you came from my era, you would know it.

It was written by Van Morrison in 1989 and made popular by Rod Stewart; coincidentally the same year CHC was founded, and the year that most of us (Chee, Jeremy, Jing Long, Nigel, Martin, Tanyaw and I) were born on. It has been a popular choice for love songs and wedding songs for decades, signifying the undying love in a relationship.

I first knew of this song in 1997, when my uncle passed me a compilation CD of love songs. I could memorize the lyric by heart, even though I knew not what it truly meant. I love the song very much, and I was just listening to the CD again a couple of days ago and thinking about God, when I realized something. It is a worship to the Lord!

Like the song, you have known God for the longest time. You praise Him and worship Him every single day without fail. You read His word and memorize verses. You pray to Him fervently during every prayer session, and You can pray so well that when fellow Christians hear you, they are touched by the things you say.

Here is the thing; have you really told Him that you love Him? Do you really understand what He wants from you? Is it all from the bottom of your heart, or just lip service?

I thank my Father for this.

Festival Of Praise

Yesterday, 31st July 2009, marked the start of the three-day long Festival Of Praise. Those who have been there will agree that it was amazing.

Guest performers True Worshippers performed pop praise and worship songs that got many of us jumping and dancing for God, and my personal favorite, Bob Fitts, dished out country-style worship songs and hymns that, well, made ME dance along too, like an old woman.

Reverend Mark Conner was the guest speaker for the night, and he delivered the message on the prison of worrying. Although most of us may not notice it, we will surely have some worries about our lives. As I have heard from a friend once,"I'm worried when I don't have any worries. It makes me feel less human."

As he had mentioned, only 4% of our worries are founded, grounded, and can be solved; so why not do something about it, rather than worrying? When you shape your worries into prayers and trust that God will solve them, you move a step closer in your relationship with Him.

So like Bobby Mcferrin (Not Bob Marley) sings, Don't Worry Be Happy!

Our Friends

The first news involves Preedee. It is his birthday!

Happy Birthday! I have no idea if you will be reading this but N415 wishes you all the best in ALL you do! Happy 17th! You have been a source of joy for us and your love for God, your diligence when it comes to studying, and your ever optimism definitely inspires us.

If you guys can, please text him or email him or if you are beside him right now, BETTER STILL! Give him a hug. (:

Now comes a piece of bittersweet news. Our dear sister, Geraldine, will be leaving for South Korea for a good six months for an exchange program. Some of us will be sending her off tomorrow.

Geraldine, it is a pity that we won't be able to see you for the next half a year, but we are definitely happy for you that you will be able to experience life in another country. We will pray for safety, revelation, wisdom, and relations and we definitely WILL MISS YOU!

Cell Group Meeting

Hey N415!! For the first time in City Harvest Church, all the zones have been broken up to take service of their own. How different is this from our normal service? The zones will need to come up with their own praise and worship team, ushers, security etc etc... Secondly there will be an unleashing of a lot of new creativity and talents, so yeah, its going to be awesome. remember to invite your friends too!

Week of Prayer

Two weeks ago, the Church embarked once again on 7 days of 1hr prayer. This time round, we could choose between the morning or evening sessions, held at several locations: our Jurong West building, Heart of God Church & Church of Singapore (Harvest) for the mornings (0630 - 0730hrs), and Jurong West & Riverwalk for the evenings (1800 - 1900hrs).

During one of the morning sessions at HOG, Pastor Tan led us to pray for our cell groups - for growth and revival. We could really feel that something was happening in the spirit realm.

After that meeting, as I was walking into the MRT, I grabbed a copy of the day's TODAY paper. What I saw on the front page really stopped me in my tracks! No, it wasn't news on a major crime or accident, but it was these words in bold:

How does growth and revival start in N415???

"It Starts In Me"!

Although this tag line is from an advertisement for Dutch Lady's new Shine yoghurt drink, it appeared as a revelation to me!

We can only experience growth and revival in our cell group if we first experience revival in our own spiritual lives! So let's not be satisfied with where we are at. If we're stagnant, we're not moving forward...

God can speak to us through an audible voice, through an impression in our heart, through another person, through the Word and even through a newspaper advertisement!

Let's all hunger and thirst for God to speak deeper revelations to us each and every day of 2009!!

Hey guys, as the new year begins, let us look back at 2008 and give thanks to God to all that has happened. Good or bad, He has brought us through the year and 2009 will be the best year yet. So anyways, we had the chance to express our gratitude to each other last Saturday during thanksgiving cell group meeting.

It was a time of fun, food and games and not forgetting the 5 of 9 awards given to our cell group for how outstanding they've been during the year, so congratulations to ANNABELLE, for winning the Sunshine award, GERALDINE, for winning the Excellence award, CLARENCE for winning the Caring award, SAMUEL for winning the Transformed Award, HANYONG, for winning the Connect group leader award and last but not least JOSEPH our CGL for always being there for US!!!!! WOOOOT! I'm sure we took time to express our thanks to certain people, who haven't?????

Quelyn's Water Baptism

Mk 16:16 - "He who believes and is baptized will be saved;" This verse speaks of the importance of water baptism and an act of obedience for all christians.

And today, we were all very excited and happy as we witnessed the water baptism of one of our members, QUELYN REBEKKAH KOH!!! Clap, Clap!!!

This is before the water baptism service. Look at Quelyn, she is so nervous but all ready to go. And I tell you many of us are envious of her because her baptism pastor is Pastor Tan!!! Anyway, the weather today was really hot that all of us who were there felt like being water baptised as well. Haha. The candidates began by praising and worshipping God and made their declaration aloud. Then it came the greatest moment of Quelyn's life!!

What a wonderful moment for her. Quelyn, we are all very proud of you for making a stand for God. More importantly, we know it has not been easy for you in this walk with God but you perserve and keep on walking. You have shown many how we can have faith in God and keeping on trusting Him.

We believe that "Old things have passed away; and all things have become new." Remember, you are the light of the world, salt of the earth and apple of God's eyes!! =)

Steph, WengLok and YanMing came to kick off the surprise. While HanYong was in the study room, they sneaked into the CG room to hide! And after sweating all over his "cake"...

These days that we live in, there’s a lot of fear / terror / anxiety in the world. And because of that, we have plague-proportions of depression.

But the good news is: God is the great “worry-bearer”!

And once you've given all your worries to God, don’t take it back!

Refuse to be anxious!

The Unsurpassed Intimacy of Tested Faith

Jesus said to her, 'Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?'

Every time you venture out in your life of faith, you will find something in your circumstances that, from a commonsense standpoint, will flatly contradict your faith.

But common sense is not faith, and faith is not common sense. In fact, they are as different as the natural life and the spiritual.

Can you trust Jesus Christ where your common sense cannot trust Him?

Can you venture out with courage on the words of Jesus Christ, while the realities of your common sense life continue to shout, "It's all a lie"?

When you are on the mountaintop, it's easy to say, "Oh yes, I believe God can do it," but you have to come down from the mountain to the demon-possessed valley and face the realities that scoff at your Mount-of-Transfiguration belief (see Luke 9:28-42 ).

Every time your theology becomes clear to your own minds, you encounter something that contradicts it. As soon as you say, "I believe 'God shall supply all [my] need,' " the testing of your faith begins ( Philippians 4:19 ).

When your strength runs dry and your vision is blinded, will you endure this trial of your faith victoriously or will you turn back in defeat?

Faith must be tested, because it can only become your intimate possession through conflict.

What is challenging your faith right now? The test will either prove your faith right, or it will kill it.

Jesus said, "Blessed is he who is not offended because of Me" ( Matthew 11:6 ). The ultimate thing is confidence in Jesus. "We have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end . . ." ( Hebrews 3:14 ).

Believe steadfastly on Him and everything that challenges you will strengthen your faith. There is continual testing in the life of faith up to the point of our physical death, which is the last great test. Faith is absolute trust in God— trust that could never imagine that He would forsake us (see Hebrews 13:5-6 ).

Do we just believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died on Calvary that we might live when we confess with our mouths that He is Lord? If we just believe in our minds, then we are no different from the devil because the Bible tells us that even the devil believes Jesus is the Son of God.

If we base our confession of faith in Jesus just on our intellectual understanding of what Christ has done, then when the testing of our faith comes, we'll crumble and cave in!

That's when we'll start entertaining, and believing, doubts about Christ and His goodness, etc.

But if our confession of faith is based on a deliberate choice to place complete trust in Christ, we'll be able to weather even the most terrible storm. That's when we'll be able to say, "Even when I don't understand what's happening, I WILL trust God, His faithfulness, His love, His mercy, His grace, and His goodness!"

Fasting and Prayer

God designed fasting to bring us into a deeper knowledge of HIm, to release the HolySpirit's work in out lives, and to bring us to greater health n wholeness.Fasting blesses every area of our mental,physical,spiritual and emotional lives.it breaks down stronghold that we are not aware the enemy has erected against us.

In Isaiah 58, God describes the benefits of fasting. Ha says that the purpose of fasting is to 'loose the bonds of wickedness,to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that u break every yoke.'

Before i go on..
20 reasons to Fast:

1) TO purify n cleanse the spirit,soul and body.
2) TO receive divine guidance and revelation.
3) TO seek GOd's face n have a close walk with Him.
4) TO hear GOd better and to understand His will more fully.
5) TO in vite GOD's power to flow through u mightily.
6) TO establish a position of spiritual strength n dominion.
7) TO break any bondage on ur life.
8) TO receive clarity of mind.
9) TO to be freed from evil or debilitating thoughts.
10) TO to break through depression.
11) TO weaken the power of devil in ur life.
12) To stabilize u when life seems out of control.
13) TO be strengthened in ur body ans soul.
14) TO break the lusting of the flesh after anything.
15) TO discover gifts GOd has placed in you.
16) TO be released from heavy burdens.

Each time u fast, remind urself why u are fasting.
Also: be sure to accompany ur fast with prayers. Fasting without praying is just starvation.

Here are some moments to remember at

ET Zone Camp Phenomena 2008!

"It is always in order to keep some mementos of the victories God has given you. They can, time and again, serve you as faith amplifiers. Your personal faith-extending memento might consist of a bill marked "paid" - a bill you thought would never get paid. But miraculously, God provided the funds to pay for it. That bill, once a Goliath of a debt, can become an aid to your faith... (it) can lift your faith to meet every challenge with which the financial realm can confront you... it... is a happy reminder of your ability, through faith in God, to appropriate blessing and victory in the time of seeming hopelessness."

So, start thinking back to your special days of victory! We need to recall continuously the victories won by the use of strong faith. And the next time seemingly impossible problems arise, let these mementos remind you of the past victories that stong faith has produced in your life. Let the enemies of your faith see the slain Goliaths of your past and confidently face those new challenges!

Load Limits

"Daddy, can I help you?" It was my four-year-old son, Matt, who was watching me carry cartons of empty pop bottles to the car. Back then you could return them for a dime apiece, so after months of stacking them up in the garage, I was off to collect the cash bonanza.

I said, "Sure, Matt," and he picked up a carton of bottles and put them in the car. When we got to the store, he grabbed his carton of bottles and shuffled along next to me across the big parking lot. About half way to the store, obviously exhausted, he looked up and said, "Dad, I can't carry this anymore."

Count on it, I didn't say, "Listen, Kid, you started this, so pick up that carton right now and finish what you started!" Of course not!
I took the carton out of his hands, because I knew it was too heavy for him to handle. As his earthly father, I understood what his limits were and helped him carry the load.

Thankfully, our heavenly Father understands our load limit and comes alongside to help. It's hard to stick it out during difficult times when the trouble in our lives seems far too heavy and there is no end in sight. It's in times like these that we feel like giving up—like we can't go on. But God's Word reminds us that "God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). It's important to note that this verse is talking about more than just bearing up under temptation. In the original Greek, the word temptation actually means "all kinds of trials."

Ever feel like you're in the middle of all kinds of trials? The problem with problems is that they have a tendency to drain us of our strength—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. And that's when our adversary likes to launch his attack. When we're weak, he haunts us with thoughts like: How could a loving God allow this to happen? and God has brought you to this place and has just left you here. Or, You're beyond help—God can't help you now. But when you start thinking these thoughts, you need to know that they are flat out lies from the pit. You can be sure that they don't reflect God's heart for you during difficult times.

In the Old Testament, one of God's names is Jehovah Jireh—our provider—and He always lives up to His name. He stands ready to provide abundant grace so that we can bear up until He has finished His work in the trial (2 Corinthians 12:7-10). He gives us a peace that passes understanding as we trust and rely on Him with a grateful heart (Philippians 4:6-7). He gives wisdom to see our tough times from His point of view (James 1:5). He gives us the assurance that He will stick it out with us and not leave or forsake us, so that we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What man can do to me?" (Hebrews 13:6).

So, chin up! Our troubles and trials have not escaped the notice of the One who comes alongside to help when it seems like the load is too much to bear.

The One who knows your load limit promises to limit your load!

PATIENCE

Emerge 2009 Eating Contest!!!

It's my turn to input my first entry into cg blog. Anyway, I am proud that Jeremy and Clarence took initiative to kick start this cg blog in the midst of their studies and projects. It is great to see the entire cg serving one another with their talents so let's avail ourselves more!

Today had a great cg mtg with all the great testimonies by the members. More importantly, there was a such a strong tangible presence of God. After cg, we fellowshipped as normal but what is unusual is that there is preview of Emerge 2009 Eating Contest!

So the challenge is: "Eating 2 cupcakes at one go"!

Preedee began the challenge but could only manage 1 and 1/4 cupcake. Lester tried but could only managed 1 cupcake despite claiming to be the master of Preedee. Haha. The winner is then PREEDEE! So do look out for this young man in next yr's Emerge 2009 Eating Contest!=)

After service, the cell group headed down to Changi Airport Terminal 2 Staff Canteen to grab a bite.. We had a new friend, Zhi Feng who was brought by Clarence and JingLong..

We waited for so long for Lester and once he reached, we left the place and headed home...

On our way back, some of the members did some weird stuff.. On the picture below, guess what they are doing..

Haha.. After that, we headed back to the train station and there we met alot of famous celebrities... We started becoming papparazi and took alot of photos of them.. But each one of them started hiding from us and all we got to take were the following shots below...
